SA-German Chamber appoints Regional Coordinator for Southern Africa

In order to coordinate the work of the offices of the German Chamber in Southern Africa with affiliated and associated institutions in the region more efficiently, the Chamber has appointed a Regional Coordinator, Ms Lea Heidemann, who has been taking up the post as from 1 July 2017. Her successor, responsible for the Competence Centre for Mineral Resources, will be announced shortly.

Ms Lea Heidemann has been working for the Southern African – German Chamber since 2012. In her previous position with the Chamber, she has served as the Deputy Head of the Business Development Department. Besides the coordination and implementation of the Chambers’ services, she has been responsible for the Competence Centre for Mineral Resources. Ms Heidemann has extensive work experience in Germany, as well as in Southern Africa. She conducted her Master Studies in International Management at the University of Applied Sciences in Münster, Germany.

Competence Centre: Mineral Resources

The Southern African - German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAGCC) has established a Competence Centre for Mineral Ressources (CCMR), commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.

The CCMR is alligned with the Ressource Strategy of the Federal Republic of Germany. The Centre´s main focus is on Southern Africa, more specifically South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Democratic Republic Congo where mining is one of the most important Industries. These markets will contribute to the security and diversity of the German resource supply and will be markets for German technology, products and services.

The Competence Centre aims to be the central point of contact for German companies in Southern Africa and serves the following objectives:

  • Creating market transparency
  • Promoting cooperation and communication
  • Providing Services
  • Marketing/Promoting German technologies
